The new facility is earmarked for use by the striking daladala operators who are resisting the move to relocate from the current base near the junction of the University of Dar es Salaam.
Commuters on the affected route continue to experience difficulties and paying more for a trip as authorities insisted the buses have to move to the new station. A commuter, Ms Juliana Lemba, who was heading to Bunju said commuters were forced to pay up to Sh2,000 per person for either a taxi or a tricycle.
A spot-check by The Citizen yesterday witnessed the ongoing construction of the bus stage. Drivers pointed out the works and other incomplete social services as some of the reasons why they are reluctant to move.
“We are going on with the construction; but we do not know when we will accomplish all the remaining tasks to allow buses to start parking here,” said a constructor who declined to reveal his name to this reporter.WEKA MAONI YAKO HAPA CHINI
